H. Allied Data
Last Updated: 24 March 2003

It is both undesirable and impossible for literally all data on Drosophila to be kept within FlyBase. FlyBase does, however, wish to encourage collaboration between other workers who are building different or more specialized Drosophila data sets. For this reason FlyBase has established the concept of allied data. These data sets are explicitly attributed to their authors, who are responsible for the data they include. FlyBase encourages other members of the community to make their data sets available associated with FlyBase. In particular, FlyBase encourages other database curators to cross-reference FlyBase to ensure consistency in, for example, gene names and symbols. (This can be achieved if other databases use the FlyBase gene symbols and identifier numbers.) FlyBase offers help to other curators in both ensuring nomenclatural consistency and in making their databases publicly available through FlyBase.

Allied Data currently included in FlyBase are listed below. See Allied Data Documentation for additional information about these data sets.
